The Community Service Learning program is jointly offered by the Sociology/Anthropology and English Departments, and offers students an interdisciplinary approach to learning combining academic classroom learning with experiential learning through volunteer work in the local community. The course will require analytical readings, critical thinking analysis, and community service. Students will be engaged in 50 hours of community work in poverty agencies, nursing homes, homeless shelters, substance abuse programs, tutoring programs, and will do readings in literature and sociology.
20% of Assumption undergraduate students are first-generation college students.
