DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
A student who satisfactorily meets the following
requirements is awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree:
- A minimum of 120 semester hours of college
credit, with a minimum of 38 semester courses.
No course of fewer than three credits may count
toward the 38 courses required for graduation. No
more than 10 courses may carry grades of D+, D,
and D-. Any course with a D+, D, or D- beyond
the tenth one will not count as a course or for
credit, but the grade will be reflected in the GPA.
A maximum of four courses taken during the
academic year or during the summer at another
accredited institution or through Assumption's
Division of Continuing Education may be used to
satisfy degree requirements after a student has
enrolled in the Undergraduate Day College. The
120 hours required for graduation shall include no
more than nine semester hours of practicum and
internship, unless required by the major or special
program sponsored by the College (for example,
the Washington Center for Learning
Alternatives);
- Fulfillment of General Education and of major
requirements.
- An overall cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
of at least 2.0 and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
in the student's major course of study.
- Students are expected to fulfill General Education
and major requirements in residence, with the
exception of credits granted at the time of matriculation
or through special programs. A maximum
of two courses may be taken outside the
undergraduate day college to satisfy General
Education requirements. These are subject to
departmental approval, certifying equivalence by
the department chair to a General Education
requirement offered in the undergraduate college.
- At least one half of the courses must be taken in
the undergraduate day college or through the
Colleges of Worcester Consortium.
The ultimate responsibility for fulfilling
graduation requirements rests with the individual
student. In consultation with his/her academic advisor
at each registration period, each student should review
his/her credits to ensure that all requirements for the
degree are being met, particularly in the areas of the
General Education curriculum and the major.
