MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

The Mathematics and Computer Science program at Assumption College serves all students interested in mathematics, computer science, computers, and their applications in a supportive and stimulating learning environment. Mathematics majors will develop their problem solving skills, their reasoning abilities, and their knowledge of the various fields of mathematics.  Computer Science majors will develop their programming skills, their knowledge of computer hardware and software, and an appreciation of the social and ethical implications of technology.   

  • Computer science major at AC is geared toward programming, discrete mathematics, operating systems, database management and network communications.
  • Mathematics majors are required to pass an oral comprehensive exam.
  • Mathematics major is valued for its analytical precision and logical rigor.
  • Majors are typically preparing for a career as math teachers.
  • Research opportunities are available in discrete math.
