Parking Tickets Support Wounded Vets

Through a joint venture between Assumption College’s Student Government Association and Public Safety Department, the campus community raised more than $1,600 to support a national organization that assists members of the U.S. Armed Forces wounded in battle to adjust to life after combat.

In exchange for a $10 donation to Wounded Warriors, parking tickets were forgiven for the 2013-14 academic year. The effort raised $1,647 to help injured service members forced to adjust to new challenges in their daily lives. The funds raised through the Assumption effort will sponsor programs that serve the psychological and physical needs of wounded veterans. Wounded Warriors also provides opportunities for eligible individuals to start a business or obtain training to prepare for a meaningful career.

Given the success of this year’s effort, Assumption will offer the same program next year to provide assistance for those who selflessly serve the country in defense of our freedom.
