Assumption College Students Attend
National Catholic Student Conference

Worcester, MA- Four (4) students from Assumption College recently attended the National Catholic Student Coalition Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico from December 29, 1999 to January 4, 2000.

The theme of this year's conference was "By the Power of Three, We Become One" with a heavy concentration on the importance of the Trinity in the lives of college students.

The Coalition Conference was the 16th annual and served as a gathering of over 160 Campus Ministry programs from colleges and universities across the country. Only two, including Assumption College, were from Massachusetts.

The group serves to "embody Catholic identity for students from campus ministries at institutions of higher education across the nation." The Coalition is representative of Catholic College students and is the voice to Congress, the Senate and local governments concerning pending issues in our society.

Several of the issues on the table to be voted on were a resolution to support East Timor, a resolution on gun control, and a resolution on the death penalty, all written and voted on by student members of the organization.

Talks were given on the importance of chastity, identifying God given gifts, and discernment for careers. The key note speaker was well known author of "Virtual Faith," Tom Beaudoin, who spoke about the importance of living a Trinitarian life.

Representatives from Assumption College were sophomore, Kevan Kivlan; juniors, Erin Jones and Ken Laliberte; and senior, Jamie Eaton.
