Dr. Tom and Monty Plough
Worcester, MA- On Saturday, April 17, 1999, Assumption College will mark a special day in its history. For the first time in almost 20 years, a new president will take office at the 96 year-old institution.
At 2:00 p.m. Dr. Thomas R. Plough will officially be installed in office at the inaugural ceremonies. The schedule of the day also includes Mass, a Culinary Fête, Dessert and Entertainment and an evening Soirée. The highlight of this celebratory day is the scheduled fireworks display which will take place at 8:30 p.m.
The Inauguration will be an opportunity for the Assumption College and Worcester community to come together at this time in the College's history marked by solid finances, growing enrollment, increased fundraising and greater recognition both regionally and nationally. It is a time for celebration for the College, the employees, the alumni, the students, and most importantly, Dr. Plough and his family.
Another highlight of the day is the broadcasting of the Installation Ceremony LIVE over the internet. For the first time in the Colleges history, and quite possibly the first time at any area college, the Installation Ceremony for our new President will be able to be seen by alumni, family and friends who were not able to make the festivities. Currently, 1,500 people have responded to the days schedule. The website from which viewing is possible is www.assumption.edu/news/ren200/renaissance. html.
