Reserve tickets now for Chapel Choir's 'Godspell' shows, March 29-31
February, 2007 - The Assumption College Chapel Choir will perform the Broadway musical 'Godspell' on March 29, 30 & 31 at 8 p.m. in Assumption’s Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Stephen Schwartz’s smash-hit Broadway musical is based on the Gospel of St. Matthew. Tickets are free but reservations are required. Joseph Stano, Ph.D. ’72 lectures about problem gambling on February 7
January, 2007 - Assumption College will host two lectures by problem gambling specialist Joseph Stano, Ph.D. ’72 on February 7. Both events are free and open to the public and will be held in Hagan Campus Center Hall.

Presidential Historian Stephen Knott, Ph.D. '79 to speak on campus Feb. 5
January, 2007 - Stephen Knott, Ph.D. '79, an associate professor and co-chair of the Presidential Oral History Program at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs, will speak about his fascinating work on Monday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Salon of Assumption’s La Maison Francaise. This event is free and open to the public.


Assumption hosts lecture by Julio Ortega on February 6; From Cervantes to Garcia Marquez: Reading Hispanic Fiction”
January, 2007 - Assumption College will host a lecture by Julio Ortega, titled “From Cervantes to Garcia Marquez: Reading Hispanic Fiction,” on Tuesday, February 6 at 5 p.m. in the Fuller Auditorium of Richard and Janet Testa Science Center. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.


Assumption hosts French Films February 13 and 22
January, 2007 - Assumption College will host a mini French Film Festival in February. Both events are free and open to the public and will be held in the George I. Alden Trust Auditorium (Room 112) of Kennedy Memorial Hall.


Assumption mourns the passing of Professor Emeritus of English Mike O'Shea '59 - (1937-2007)
January, 2007 - Assumption lost one of its most dedicated and well-respected professors with the passing of Professor Emeritus of English Mike O’Shea on January 19, 2007.


Assumption hosts Indian film series February to April
January, 2007 - Assumption College will host an Indian film festival this semester. All three events are free and open to the public, and will be shown in the George I. Alden Trust Auditorium (Room 112) in Kennedy Memorial Hall, with each film beginning at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available. The Festival is co-sponsored by Women’s Studies and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages & Culture.

January, 2007 - The Emmanuel d'Alzon Arts Series will display the works of artist Jennifer Hauri from January 15 through March 2. An opening reception with remarks by Hauri will be held Wednesday, January 17 at 4:30 p.m. in d'Alzon Library on Assumption College’s campus.
Foundress of the Religious of the Assumption to be Canonized
January, 2007 - Pope Benedict XVI has formally recognized a miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Marie Eugenie Milleret, the foundress of the Religious of the Assumption. This means that she will be canonized a saint of the Roman Catholic Church in 2007.
Fall Career Fair Offers Students Several Opportunities
December, 2006--Armed with business suits and resumes, Assumption College juniors and seniors took to the Plourde Recreation Center on the evening of November 16 as the Office of Career Services presented the 12th annual Fall Career Fair.
Assumption Honors Cathleen Stutz as Mass. Professor of the Year
December, 2006--Cathleen K. Stutz, Ed.D., assistant professor of Education at Assumption College, was honored as the 2006 Massachusetts Professor of the Year at a ceremony held in the Richard and Janet Testa Science Center on December 11.
United Way Campaign Reaches Final Stage
December, 2006--Mike Rubino literally put himself between a rock and a hard place in urging members of the Assumption College community to participate in the annual United Way campaign.
Psi Chi Honor Society Inducts New Members
December, 2006--The Assumption College chapter of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, inducted 34 new members at a candle light ceremony held on November 30 in the Slaon of La Maison Francaise.

Stutz Named Massachusetts Professor of the Year
November, 2006--Assumption College Assistant Professor of Education, Cathleen Stutz, Ed.D., was named the 2006 Massachusetts Professor of the Year at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, November 16, 2006.

Centennial Campaign Exceeds Goal with more than $32.3 Million!
November, 2006--Boosted by a $1.5 million gift—the largest in the College’s history—from Michele and Donald D’Amour ’64, a former trustee and the chairman and CEO of Big Y Foods, The Centennial Campaign pushed past its $30 million goal and announced a total of $32.3 million raised to date at the annual President’s Council dinner.

Phantom of the Opera Screening Postponed
October, 2006--The screening of The Phantom of the Opera that was scheduled to take place at 11:30pm in the Assumption College Chapel of the Holy Spirit tonight has been postponed.
Mango Blue Performance Postponed
October, 2006--The performance by Afro-Latin band Mango Blue originally scheduled for Thursday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Charlie's has been postponed due to illness. The performance will be rescheduled for the spring semester at a date and time to be announced.
Celebrate Halloween with Phantom of the Opera
October, 2006--Assumption College will host a rare opportunity to view the original Phantom of the Opera, a 1925 silent film classic starring Lon Chaney on Tuesday, October 31 at 11:30 p.m.

August, 2006--The Colleges of Worcester Consortium, Inc. has announced the appointment of Mark P. Bilotta as its new chief executive officer, effective September 5, 2006.
Denomme '52 Recognized for U.Va.'s La Maison Francaise
August, 2006--Robert Denommé, Ph.D. ’52, the Douglas Huntly Gordon Professor Emeritus of French Literature at the University of Virginia, was recently featured on the U.Va. Web site for the 20th anniversary of La Maison Française, an on-campus house he helped design for students desiring to speak French within their living environment.
