ASSUMPTION COLLEGE ANNOUNCES NEW DIRECTOR OF MULTICULTURAL AFFAIRS

Worcester, MAÑ Assumption College recently announced the appointment of Mario J. Silva to Director of Multicultural Affairs. In this position, Mr. Silva will coordinate the College's efforts to attract students from diverse backgrounds and to promote a campus climate that supports the high achievement and success of African-, Asian-, Latino-, and Native-American (ALANA) students at Assumption College. He will continue in his roles as Associate Director of Admissions and Chair of the CollegeÕs Diversity Committee and serve as a consultant to President Thomas R. Plough. In announcing the appointment, Dr. Plough stated that Mr. Silva will work with others on campus, "encouraging our growing, diverse student body to interact regularly with one another to fully utilize the power of a residential campus and to appreciate the range of talents and perspectives which characterize our student body." Mr. Silva was also recently elected as the External Chair for the New England Consortium of Black Admissions Counselors (NECBAC), an organization founded to serve all ALANA students interested in pursuing higher educational opportunities.
