RENOWNED PIANIST TO PERFORM AT ASSUMPTION COLLEGE


Worcester, MA-As part of College’s HUMANARTS Series, pianist Sergey Schepkin will perform on Saturday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
Sergey Schepkin has been hailed by the American Record Guide as "The major Bach interpreter of his generation." His concert will feature selections from Bach, as well as Sergey Rachmaninoff, Claude Debussy, and Frederic Chopin.
Schepkin was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where he graduated with high honors in 1985. He also spent time at the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Russell Sherman and earned an Artist diploma in 1992 and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1999.
An avid chamber musician, Schepkin has performed with artists such as James Buswell, Lucy Stoltzman, and Masuko Ushioda. From 1998-2001, Schepkin was a founding member and the artistic advisor of the Chameleon Arts Ensemble of Boston. His recordings of Bach’s "Goldberg" Variations, Partitas, and The Well-Tempered Clavier were released by Ongaku Records in 1996-2000 and each volume of the Partitas was nominated for the Indie awards in 199 and 1998.
All HUMANARTS events are funded by generous grants from the College’s Office of Academic Affairs and Student Government Association. The concert is free and open to the public.
