Arun Gandhi to Speak at Assumption College

Worcester, MA—Dr. Arun Gandi, grandson of India’s legendary leader, Mohandas K. "Mahatma" Gandhi, will give a lecture entitled "Terrorism and Nonviolence" on Friday, November 2, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Assumption College.
The event is free and open to the public.
Born in South Africa, Gandhi grew up under the discriminatory apartheid laws and was persecuted both for being too "white" for some and too "black " for others. His grandfather taught Dr. Gandhi to understand nonviolence through understanding violence. Dr. Gandhi will speak on how justice does not mean revenge, but instead transforming the opponent through love and suffering.
The lecture is co-sponsored by the President’s Office, the Peace and Studies Committee, the Student government Association, and Cutler Associate, Inc. The event is free and open to the public.
