Assumption College to Present Beck Award


Worcester, MA—Dr. Russell A. Barkley will be presented with Assumption College’s Aaron T. Beck Award for Excellence in Clinical Research on Friday October 12, 2001, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Barkley will also lead a workshop and discussion at the event.
Russell A. Barkley is a Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Barkley is internationally known as an authority on ADHD and has published numerous scientific papers and books related to the assessment and treatment of ADHD in children. He has also created five professional videotapes on the subject. The workshop will deal with primary characteristics, theory, methods of management and an overview of medications. After the workshop, the award will be presented and Dr. Barkley will give his address.
The event is sponsored by College’s Aaron T. Beck Institute for Cognitive Studies. Founded in 1996, the Beck Institute annually hosts speakers and conferences that address research and therapeutic developments in cognitive therapy, as well as moral issues faced by therapists and clients.
