Assumption College to Hold "Topping Off" Ceremony

June 28, 2002—Assumption College will hold a “topping off ceremony” to commemorate the raising of the final construction beam of the College’s new $18 million science and technology center. The red-white-and blue beam will be raised in a ceremony on at Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at the construction site.

The ceremony signifies the end of the first phase of construction on the College’s new building, part of a five-year, $50 million expansion project. The final beam also bears an American flag. It is an opportunity to display the craftsmanship of steel workers and for them to make an affirmative statement about America just days before Independence Day.
