UTC Lecture: "When a Road Runs Through It"

Worcester, MA—The University Transportation Center (UTC) at Assumption College will sponsor a panel discussion on highway planning called “When a Road Runs Through It: Building Highways to Enhance Community Life,” at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium of La Maison Francaise.

In particular, the discussion will focus on how Route 146 impacts Quinsigamond Village and the Blackstone River. The UTC had a similar discussion in the fall that dealt with some of the negative impacts that highways have on urban life. This event will discuss the positive impact that highway projects can have on both natural and built environments.

Panel members include John Blundo, Deputy Chief Engineer of MassHighway; Halford Welch, Chief of Planning for the National Heritage Corridor; Sally Jablonski-Ruksnaitis, owner of Berg's Florist and member of the Village Task Force; and Steven Bishop, Director of the Northern Gateway Visitor Center Project.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Office of Public Affairs at (508) 767-7160.
