Assumption College's "Midnight Madness Celebration"
to Feature the Harlem Rockets
Worcester, MA-Assumption College's student and athletic organizations are hosting a campus-wide Midnight Madness Celebration from today, Thursday, October 12 to Sunday, October 14, 2000, as the College prepares for the opening of its basketball season. One highlight of the weekend will feature the famous Harlem Rockets Comedy Basketball Show playing against members of the Assumption community, including faculty, staff, and students on Friday, October 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Plourde Recreation Center.
The Harlem Rockets is a team of talented, well-known, and well-trained players who played Divison I college basketball and/or professional basketball overseas. The team, founded in 1993 by Brig. General (Ret.) George Mitchell, excels in comedy basketball, and tours throughout the United States each year. This past year, the Harlem Rockets played 156 games, including three games abroad. Unlike other touring teams, the Harlem Rockets focus on audience participation, and involve young people and their families before, during, and after the game. The team has also appeared on ABC-TV's "Good Morning America" and NESN-TV.
The Harlem Rockets game is free and open to the public.
