Rare Russian Icons on Display at Assumption College
Worcester, MA-The March d'Alzon Arts Exhibition will open on Monday, March 12 with a rare display of Russian Icons. To kickoff the display, a reception and opening lecture on Russian Iconography will be delivered by Rev. Donat Lamothe, A.A. on Tuesday, March 13, 4:00 in the Emmanuel d'Alzon Library Main Reference Area. This fascinating exhibition features several icons from the Saint Anne Shrine in Fiskdale, Massachusetts, as well as many hand-tinted Russian lithographs and prints from the 18th through 20th centuries. These two-dimensional works will be complemented by a display of Russian folk-arts. All the lithographs and folk-arts were collected by Assumptionist Priests, in particular Fr. Louis Dion, A.A., vice-chancellor of the College, and are part of the Assumption College Special Collections. The Russian Art Exhibition will run from March 12-April 13.
