Assumption College Presents
a Lecture on Genocide in Rwanda
Worcester, MA-Assumption College will present a lecture by Alison Des Forges, entitled Confronting Horror: The Human Faces of Genocide in Rwanda on Monday, March 19, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. in Assumption CollegeÕs Hagan Campus Center Hall. Alison Des Forges is the winner of a 1999 MacArthur Fellowship, and directs research on Rwanda and Burundi for Human Rights Watch. She is also the author of Leave None to Tell the Story: Genocide in Rwanda, and serves as an expert witness to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, as well as providing evidence to judicial authorities in Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, and the U.S. Trained as a historian at Harvard and Yale universities, Dr. Des Forges received her doctorate in African history and has authored scholarly articles and monographs on Rwandan history. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the CollegeÕs Campus Activities Board and Peace Studies Committee.
