Worcester, MA---Assumption College's d'Alzon Library kicks off a new monthly series of art exhibitions with a display of "paintings informed by the depositions of Christ" by Nancy Flanagan. Her show will run until October 31.
Ms. Flanagan is also currently at work on landscapes, still lives, and portraitures. Her work is in the American tradition of modernist painting, paying homage to European ideas while retaining a distinctly personal and individual vision. Ms. Flanagan recently returned from teaching and painting in the south of France as part of the Dickinson College Program in Toulouse. She has exhibited her work in France, Spain, Ireland, and throughout the United States, including galleries in New York's SoHo district.
Ms. Flanagan has also been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to work in Madrid and a Pollack-Krasner Grant. She is currently the Chair of the Fine Arts Department at Assumption College.
Following Ms. Flanagan's exhibit will be a show by artist Elizabeth Meyersohn, entitled "Re-exploring the Landscape," which begins with a reception on November 1 at 4:00 p.m. and runs until November 29. Ms. Meyersohn is an Assistant Professor of Art at Assumption College.
A third exhibit has also been scheduled: a show of work by art students at Assumption. This show will be on display from November 30 - December 31, 2000, with the reception again on the opening day at 4:00 p.m.
All shows and receptions are free and open to the public.
