Assumption Faculty praised for Chamber Music performance
Worcester, MA (October 6, 2006) - Three faculty members from the Assumption College Department of Art, Music & Theater have received positive reviews following their performance in the debut of the Worcester Chamber Music Society (WMCS) at St. Paul’s Cathedral, on Saturday, September 30, 2006.
Tracy Kraus, who plays flute in the ensemble, and Peter Sulski (violist and violinist) are instructors of the flute and violin at Assumption, while also acting as directors of the young WMCS. Assumption’s lecturer in Music, Ian Watson, is a harpsichordist with the WMCS, and also serves as an accompanist to the Assumption College Chorale.
The Society’s debut performance, which included pieces by Mozart and Bach, among others, was met with a standing ovation by the overflow crowd at St. Paul’s Cathedral. John Zeugner of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette hailed the group’s Assumption trio, stating “the audience felt and responded to the energy and commitment that Sulski, Kraus and Watson have brought to the creation of this chamber group…There was an instant, vibrant standing ovation.”
