United Way Campaign Reaches Final Stage
Worcester, MA (December 8, 2006) - Mike Rubino literally put himself between a rock and a hard place in urging members of the Assumption College community to participate in the annual United Way campaign.
Standing on a rock in the middle of an icy duck pond, Rubino, general counsel for the College, greeted Assumption employees at the entrance to campus with a sign reminding them that “The End is Near." The annual United Way campaign officially ends on Friday, December 8 at 4:15 p.m. and Rubino hoped to remind the Assumption community to make pledges and think about increasing their gift level. The campaign is presently at the $20,000 level and counting.
Each year the Assumption College campaign team greets employees at the front of campus to “warn” them that the campaign is coming to an end. Historically, this final day blitz has proved most effective, usually adding $2,000 to $3,000 to the campaign. The United Way campaign is conducted each year at Assumption and has annually raised more than $20,000 over the past few years.
Rubino was joined in his sign holding efforts by Janet Lambert, office of the executive vice president, David Kowalczyk, co-director of Career Services, Dianne Howard, Finance, and Susan Sabelli, lecturer in Social and Rehabilitation Services.
