Assumption to host screening, discussion of film Tough Guise
Worcester, MA (October 16, 2006) —Assumption College will host a screening and discussion of the film Tough Guise (1991) on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the La Maison Francaise Auditorium. In this innovative and provocative documentary, Jackson Katz argues that widespread violence in American society, including the tragic school shootings in Littleton, Colorado and Jonesboro, Arkansas, and elsewhere, needs to be understood as part of an ongoing crisis in masculinity. This fascinating and critically topical film will enlighten and provoke men and women of all ages to evaluate their own participation in the culture of contemporary masculinity. Moderator for the discussion will be Dr. Evan Garber, a clinical psychologist and the Chairman of the Board of the Central Massachusetts Men’s Resource Center.
