November, 2004—Two of Assumption College’s administrators were recently honored for their exceptional work with students.

Catherine WoodBrooks, Ph.D., vice president for Student Life, has won the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region I Institutional Leadership Award. This award recognizes a leader on campus that demonstrates forward thinking, creative problem solving, and active engagement of students, as well as significant contributions to the community in terms of policies, programs, staff and student development.

Dr. WoodBrooks said she is “very honored and humbled” by this award, particularly for the significant recognition of her work in actively engaging the student body.

Neil Castronovo, Ph.D., dean of Student Development, has been selected as the Region I nominee for the Outstanding Performance as a Dean Award. If selected, he will be awarded the National Award for Outstanding Service as a Dean.

“Neil is known throughout the College and the greater academic community as a master motivator and active participant in all matters vital to assisting students and enhancing the academic experience and quality of life for undergraduates,” said colleagues Marta Carlson, associate director of Student Development and Counseling, and David Kowalczyk, co-director of Career Services. “He is an extraordinary leader who daily carries out his work with caring, intelligence, integrity, and joy.”

Neil and Catherine will be honored at the upcoming NASPA Region I Conference, which will be held in Mystic, CT.
