
Inaugural Induction Ceremony of Phi Rho Chapter of Sigma
Delta Pi, National Spanish Honor Society
April, 2004—Assumption College’s Department of
Foreign Languages will honor students and faculty members with induction into
Sigma Delta Pi, the national Spanish Honor Society, on Tuesday, April 27, 2004
at 4:30 p.m. in the Salon of La Maison Francaise.
The ceremony will induct 30 students as members and 7 faculty as honorary members.
Professor Daniel Frost of the College of the Holy Cross will preside over the
ceremony to install the Phi Rho Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi at Assumption College,
and to teach inductees how to conduct the rites and rituals of induction.
Sigma Delta Pi is a national collegiate Hispanic honor society to honor those
who seek and achieve excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in
the study of the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking people. To be
eligible for membership, students’ averages must be 3.0 or above in Spanish
courses. They must rank in the upper 35% of their class. They must have completed
at least three semesters worth of college credit. Members of Sigma Delta Pi
have access to scholarship opportunities, participation in conferences, and
publication in the journal Entra nosotros.
