College Presents Lecture with Author and Journalist Naomi Schaefer
Riley
February,
2005—Assumption
College presents a lecture with journalist Naomi Schaefer Riley
on March 2, 2005 at 4:15 p.m. in the Fuller Auditorium of
the Testa Science Center.
Ms. Schaefer Riley will speak about her widely discussed new book,
God on the Quad: How Religious Colleges and the Missionary Generation
are Changing America. Her talk will be followed by a question
and answer period.
Traditional religious colleges and universities in America are growing
at a breakneck pace. These institutions aim to combine the rigor
of traditional liberal arts education with a renewed dedication
to religious mission. In God on the Quad, Ms. Schaefer
Riley explores these schools by interviewing administrators, instructors,
and students to produce the first popular, accessible, and comprehensive
investigation of this phenomenon.
This lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored
by the Department of Political Science, the Office of Mission, and
the Ecumenical Institute. For more information, please contact the
Office of Public Affairs at (508) 767-7160.
