Assumption Calendar of Events

Opening Reception to be held for Artist Marlene Rye

Traveler's Rest (painting) by Marlene Rye.Worcester, MA (September 1, 2006) - The Emmanuel d’Alzon Arts Series will host an opening reception for artist Marlene Rye on Wednesday, September 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Emmanuel d’Alzon Library.

Rye’s exhibit, “Dream Journal,” is now on display in the Library through October 13. Rye is a lecturer in Art at Assumption College. She received her A.B. in art at Smith College in 1993 and went on to earn an M.A. in art at Western Carolina University as well as an M.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. Rye has studied under distinguished artists such as Andrew Forge, Robert Godfrey, Barbara Grossman, John Moore, and Martha Armstrong. Her work has been accepted into juried shows with curators from the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim.
