Assumption College Receives Prestigious National Rankings

October, 2003-Assumption College has recently been favorably rated in several national publications.

Careers and Colleges magazine has rated Assumption College as one of its Top 20 “Cool Schools”. This list, compiled by Robert Franek of The Princeton Review, consisted of 20 “underrated gems”; quality schools that typically fly under the radar, but are definitely worth adding to a student’s list. The article touted several of Assumption’s advantages, including its small classes and one-on-one interaction with professors, its unique program in social and rehabilitation services, and its proximity to nine other colleges in Worcester. The only Northeastern school on the list, Assumption shared its honor with other schools of note, including DePaul University and Seattle University.

Assumption College has once again been ranked in the top tier in the 2004 U.S.News and World Report's college ranking edition. The College competes in the Best Universities--Master's category (North Region). This year, Assumption moved up in the ranks from 37 to 33.

The Princeton Review has also included Assumption College in their first edition of The Best Northeastern Colleges. The book constitutes one-fifth of their new "Best" regional guidebook series, which collectively includes profiles for over 600 institutions. The best 135 schools are featured in the Northeastern edition, showcasing the top schools in eight states.

In addition, Assumption College was ranked 25th in the National Collegiate Scouting Association poll. The ranking was based on an annual report collected by the NCSA, which determined the top colleges and universities in the country. According to graduation rank, Assumption College was ranked the 25th best school in America in all divisions when combining both athletics and academics. The only Division II school to make the list, Assumption shares the honor with elite institutions such as Harvard University, Princeton University, and Williams College. NCSA’s Power Rank is based on the high academic and athletic standards that each college has set.
