Assumption Calendar of Events

Assumption to host Massachusetts Science Olympiad

Worcester, MA - Assumption College will host the Massachusetts Science Olympiad competition on Saturday, March 18, 2006. This event is a science competition composed of twenty-three experiments for middle school students from around the state of Massachusetts.

The events cover all areas of science, including biology, physics, chemistry, geology, and engineering. Students will perform a variety of experiments, such as launching water-powered rockets, playing scientifically designed musical instruments, identifying insects, racing balloons, and predicting the weather.

The best students or team in each event will receive points. The highest scoring schools will earn a trip to the national Olympiad tournament in May, which will be held at Indiana University, Bloomington.

The schools from Central Massachusetts that will be competing include: Oak Middle School, Shrewsbury; Cocksett Middle School, Sterling; Dudley Middle School, Dudley; and Sherwood Middle School, Shrewsbury.
