Institute presents the 2004
Marie-Eugénie Milleret Lecture, “Ethical Education of Health Care
Professionals,“ with Alain Cordier. This lecture takes place on Thursday,
March 4, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hagan Campus Center Hall.
Alain Cordier, a trustee of Assumption College, is the current president of
Bayard Presse in Paris, France. He is the former general director and CFO of
the Public Hospital System of Paris. He recently chaired a commission appointed
to study and make recommendations to the French government regarding ethical
education for health care professionals in France. The Cordier Commission submitted
its report, “Éthique et Professions de Santé,“ to
the French Ministry of Health, Family, and Handicapped Persons in May 2003.
Since 1996, he has been president and director of Bayard Presse, the Assumptionist
publishing house in Paris. In France, Bayard Presse publishes a daily newspaper
and a variety of periodicals. Under Mr. Cordier’s leadership, Bayard,
in recent years, has developed international divisions in Asia, Africa, and
North America.
This lecture is free and open to the public. It will be given in English, and
