February, 2004—Assumption College presents "Women
and Tourism in a Lacandon Maya Community", a lecture with Dr. Jon McGee,
on February 10, 2004 in the Auditorium of La Maison Francaise at 7:00 pm.
Dr. Jon McGee is a professor of Anthropology at Texas State University-San Marcos.
He is the author of Life, Ritual and Religion Among the Lacandon Maya, as
well as Watching Lacandon Maya Lives. He has also co-authored Anthropological
Theory: An Introductory History, and Sacred Realms: Essays in Religious
Practices, Beliefs, and Culture.
This program is presented by Assumption's academic departments of Foreign Languages and Sociology and Anthropology, as well as the Latin American Studies Program, the Women's Studies Program, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
