Assumption Calendar of Events

Assumption College Announces May Events

Worcester, MA - Assumption College is pleased to announce its events for May 2006. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise specified.

Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7, 2006 – Assumption’s Office of Campus Ministry will hold a car wash from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the La Maison Francaise parking lot.

Thursday, May 11, 2006 – Assumption will host a workshop entitled, “Empirically Supported Treatments: What Could Be Bad?” from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the La Maison Francaise Auditorium. There is a $45 registration fee for this event. Part of the Spring Series on Developments in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, this event will be presented by Diane Chambless, Ph.D. Chambless is professor of Psychology and director of clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania. The workshop will provide a review of the controversial movement toward evidence-based practice in the United States. For registration information, please call (508) 767-7390.

Saturday, May 13, 2006 – The 89th Commencement of Assumption College will be held at 10:00 a.m. on the H.L. Rocheleau baseball field. Elena Poptodorova, ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United States, will serve as speaker at the Commencement exercises. Poptodorova became Bulgaria’s ambassador to the United States in February 2002. Her prior positions included director of the Directorate of International Organizations and Human Rights (2001-02), member of the Bulgarian parliament (1990-2001) and various diplomatic posts in Rome and San Marino (1975-1990). Wednesday, May 17, 2006 – The Center for Continuing and Professional Education at Assumption College will hold an open house for adult learners from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the La Maison Francaise Salon. Information on the new online management degree program, credit for prior learning, accelerated courses, financial aid and tuition discount plans will be available.
