Meet Some Notables from the Class of 2006
STACY BURGESS ’06
Hometown: Eastford, CT
Major: International Business
Stacy Burgess wants to see the world, and she certainly will when she joins the United States Army this fall. Following boot camp, Stacy will attend the Defense Language Institute in California where she will study linguistics, Arabic she hopes. She would like to be deployed in a service capacity.
“My grandfather, a WWII veteran, was my role model, along with Professor Jeanne McNett (International Business),” notes Stacy. “He, and the experience of 9/11, inspired me to serve my country, and Prof. McNett is so worldly, so full of knowledge!”
Stacy is very interested in gaining further understanding of how countries can better understand each other and avoid problems. She has studied abroad in Spain and will travel extensively this summer. Following a four-year commitment to the Army, she wants to continue serving her country within a federal agency such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Central Intelligence Agency, Drug Enforcement Administration, or Federal Bureau of Investigation.
