Peter Clemente Releases New Guitar Album

April, 2006 - Peter Clemente, lecturer in Music at Assumption College and local guitar favorite, has teamed up with fellow classical guitarist Mark Small on a new CD entitled Fast Falls the Eventide for Joyspring Records.

Sonoma Restaurant, located at 206 Worcester Rd. in Princeton, MA, will host a CD release party for the Small-Clemente Duo on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. The duo will play selections from their new disc at this event, which is free and open to the public.

Fast Falls the Eventide is the first recording by the Small-Clemente Duo, and features the guitarists in a wide-ranging program that includes duets and solos as well as ensemble pieces and one track featuring a full orchestra. The music on the disc includes classical selections by J.S. Bach, Enrique Granados, and Antonin Dvorak; a movie theme by jazz musician Pat Metheney; and settings of folk and hymn tunes and Negro spirituals penned by Small and Clemente. Among the musicians supporting Small and Clemente on the disc are Boston area violinist Tricia Hopkins and members of the Utah Symphony Orchestra conducted by renowned composer Kurt Bestor.

The CD is the second recorded project by Clemente, who released the solo guitar album Serenade in 2001, and the seventh for Small, who released six albums as one half of the Small-Torres Guitar Duo. In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Assumption, Clemente is also a faculty member at Clark University. He won the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America competition in 1986.
