Campus Activities Board Wins Four Awards at Regional Conference
Worcester, MA (November 15, 2006) - Executive members of the Assumption College Campus Activities Board (CAB) were recently honored for their exceptional student run programs and events at a regional student activities conference in Marlborough, MA.
The National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) conference is an annual event that provides campus activities organizations with educational sessions, showcases for national artists, and interaction with booking agents. “By attending this conference, we are able to see what artists are on tour, what new talent is being showcased and to see live performances of their acts,” said Heather Kessler ’07, the treasurer of CAB. “To have this type of exposure to dozens of artists is so helpful in deciding who to book and what acts to bring to our campus,” she said.
As a member of the Northeast NACA region, which includes colleges from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and portions of New York, Assumption was recognized for its exceptional student talent in four of the seven categories. The Assumption CAB won three awards in the division of schools between 2,000 and 5,000 students. Within that division, CAB won for “Best Student Designed Web Site,” “Most Original Article of Clothing,” which celebrated the last day of classes on a t-shirt, and the “Most Creative Gimmick” which promoted the band One Sweet World, with the use of a globe lollipop.
In addition, CAB won “Best Presentation of Materials” at the school swap, which featured a collection of posters, t-shirts, giveaways, and brochures for each event CAB sponsored on campus. This NACA conference marked the first time that Assumption’s CAB came away with a total of four awards.
