Assumption College d’Alzon Arts Series Presents
Photography Exhibit by Lora Brueck
January, 2004—The Assumption College d’Alzon Art
Series will be holding an opening reception for local artistic photographer
Lora Brueck’s exhibit “Hidden Treasures: Vintage Volumes Behind
Closed Doors” on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 4:00 pm in the d’Alzon
Library. Brueck’s exhibit focuses on photographs of “old”
books, and will be on exhibit from January 12—February 27, 2004.
Brueck’s interest in photography began in 1984, when she began studying
the art at the Worcester Center for Crafts under Peter Faulkner. After learning
the basics of black and white photography, she ventured into infrared film and
the handcoloring of black and white prints. While working with handcoloring.
Brueck became interested in using her images in one-of-a-kind books, called
“artist books” and began studying a variety of binding techniques.
Over the years, Lora has been featured in both group exhibitions and one-woman
shows. The subject matter of her one-person shows ranges from infrared images
of country fairs to hand-colored images of classic cars. Membership in the women’s
artist collaborative group ARTXII has influenced her to explore different media
and methods, such as printmaking and three-dimensional work. Brueck is a member
of several area artistic organizations, including the Boston Book Artists, Worcester’s
Arts District Partnership, and the Sunday Photography Group.
This exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information on Lora Brueck,
