College's Aaron T. Beck Institute for Cognitive Studies presents
"Dialectical Behavior Therapy: A Clinical Introduction",
a workshop with Rebecca Hanson-Richardson, Ph.D., on Friday, May
20, 2005 from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of La Maison
Francaise.
This workshop will provide an introduction to DBT. Dr. Hanson-Richardson
will use videotapes and role play to demonstrate key concepts. Participants
will have opportunities to observe, practice, and receive feedback
on the use of basic strategies throughout the workshop. Participants
will learn: how principles of DBT structure treatment; the functions
and modalities of treatment in a comprehensive DBT program; four
sets of skills that clients learn in DBT; and basic coaching strategies
of validation & problem solving.
Rebecca Hanson-Richardson, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist at
Worcester State Hospital and a faculty member in the Department
of Psychiatry at UMass Memorial Medical Center. She received the
award for Professional Excellence from the Professional Service
Organization of Worcester State Hospital in 2002, and the Paul J.
Barreira Teaching Award from the Psychiatry Residents of the University
of Massachusetts Medical School in 2004.
