Assumption Baseball Team Heads South on Allegiant Air

Worcester, MA - Spring has officially sprung for the Assumption College baseball team as the Greyhounds headed south to Florida at the perfect time—with snow predicted in the local forecast. The team flew out of Worcester Airport on Thursday, March 2, 2006 on Allegiant Air, the newest carrier at the regional airport.

The team booked the flight in early November for their travel party of 37 which included players, coaches and trainers. Although the cost was slightly higher to fly out of Worcester rather than other regional airports, the team and the College felt the convenience of flying out locally, as well as the support of the new airline, warranted the ticket purchases.

The baseball team, who caught an 11:10 a.m. flight out of Worcester, will spend their spring break week competing in Bradenton, Ft. Myer's, Tampa, Sarasota, Melbourne, and Saint Leo. The Greyhounds will play 10 games against Eckerd (FL), St. Joseph's (IN), Saint Anselm, Concordia (NY), Florida Tech, and Saint Leo.
