Assumption Recognized by National Publications
Worcester, MA (November 2, 2006) - The value of a college education is often debated in the media and in the homes of families across the country. Recently, the College Board released its annual report commenting on the rising cost of education, but pointed out that without it, lifetime earning potential is severely limited.
That is why Assumption College was honored to learn that it has been named as a "Best Value" in the ninth edition of Barron’s Best Buys in College Education. The publication is in bookstores now.
As a best buy, students and parents can be assured they are receiving a first rate education at an affordable price. According to the book, “Schools covered in this book are moderately-priced ones that provide a high-quality education at bargain prices.”
Assumption is the only school in Central Massachusetts that was recognized. Among colleges and universities in Massachusetts that were listed, Assumption was one of six along with Gordon College, Northeastern University, Olin College, Stonehill College, and Suffolk University.
“Assumption College is honored to be recognized by Barron's as one of the best 247 values in the country,” said Evan Lipp, vice president of enrollment management. “Being recognized reflects the commitment of our faculty, the learning environment, and Assumption's financial aid program. Our faculty have been recognized nationally and are committed to scholarship and teaching with an unusually deep commitment to the individual student. They challenge students to accomplish more than they thought possible leading to 95 percent of our graduates securing jobs or attending graduate school immediately following their undergraduate experience,” said Lipp.
The publishers took several factors into consideration when selecting a college as a best buy. Those factors included tuition and fees, outcome potential for graduates, academic programs, campus life, and financial aid. Data was collected from a variety of sources including a student questionnaire. “The 247 colleges chosen represent the best combination of sound data and student satisfaction,” according to Barron’s.
Assumption was also listed again in the U.S. News & World Report "America’s Best Colleges 2007 " guide as well as
the Princeton Review's 2007 edition of Best Northeastern Colleges. For the last several years, Assumption has been included in these distinctive publications as one of the best colleges in the Northeastern part of the country.
