Thinking outside the box is a fairly common term nowadays, however no words ring truer to describe how Kristen Sanderson views the role of future development in the world of Counseling Psychology. “Many brilliant minds paved the way for the development of counseling psychology,” she states, “However there is still a great deal of work to be done.” In further describing what contributions she hopes to make as a clinician and to the world of psychology Kristen states; “It is important to not be satisfied with the status quo but to facilitate healthy changes in individuals and, through them, help to change the world.”
Kristen has exemplified leadership qualities since her undergraduate days at Assumption. She was the Vice President of the school’s Psi Chi chapter and a member of Pi Delta Phi as well. She was also a tutor at the Academic Support Center for Psychology, French and American Sign Language. Her second semester of her junior year, she studied abroad at La Sorbonne in Paris to study French language and culture. In the spring of 2006, Kristen graduate magna cum laude with a major in Psychology and a minor in French.
Kristen will be receiving her Masters Degree in 2008, and then plans to earn her doctoral degree in clinical psychology. With the dedication she exhibits to her future profession, and the convictions she has about the field of Psychology, do not be surprised to see Kristen setting the standard for innovative therapies in the future.
