First Male Hound Runner to Ever Qualify for NCAA Division II Nationals

Assumption College junior Tony Fierimonte, of Northborough, Mass., became the first male Hound runner to ever qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship as he placed fifth at the NCAA East Regional on Nov. 10 at Franklin Park.

Fierimonte qualified by virtue of placing in the top five overall in the region to earn a spot in the national championship race Spokane, Wash. As a team, Assumption placed 10th out of 28 Division II teams in the event.

He qualified for nationals by placing among the top five in the region as he crossed in 31:43 over the 10-kilometer distance, which was the first time the Hounds had run beyond a five-mile race this fall.
