Marion Awards to Highest-Ranking Juniors

 

The Marion Awards were presented this fall to the following students who rank the highest in their junior class:

Gaetana Marie Barrett '99 is an Accounting major from Shrewsbury, MA. She was an Accounting tutor in the Academic Support Center during her sophomore year. Marie has a full-time accounting job at Ken's Foods, Inc., in Marlboro, MA, during the year in order to pay her college tuition. She has been working there for almost two years and is gaining practical experience in her field.

Kathryn Hoye '99 is working on a major in Social and Rehabilitation Services and a minor in Biology, with a concentration in Elementary Education. She comes from Sutton, MA. She is involved in sports, and this year she is captain of the women's soccer team. During recent summers she has been a camp counselor and a tour guide on campus. She is a member of the Leadership Circle and of Delta Epsilon Sigma honor society, and she has been an Orientation leader. She is now tutoring at the Academic Support Center, and she has done volunteer work at Assumption Open House and at the Reach Out Center.

Tammy Ives '99 comes from Preston, CT, and she is a double major in Mathematics and Spanish, with a concentration in Elementary Education. During her freshman year, Tammy played varsity soccer and softball and received the NCAA Scholar-Athlete Award. She has been involved in intramural sports and has been a member of the Campus Activities Board and a volunteer at the Reach Out Center. She has tutored for three years at the Academic Support Center, where she obtained Master's level certification in Math, and she is a head tutor. Last year she presented at the conference of the New England Peer Tutoring Association. Tammy is a member of the Leadership Circle, the Math Honor Society, and she is treasurer of Delta Epsilon Sigma, the academic honor society.
