1.28.2015, 3:45 p.m. Update: Thanks to around-the-clock efforts by the Buildings and Grounds staff, Assumption College will reopen tomorrow morning, Thursday, January 29. Classes will resume under the normal schedule and all administrative offices will be open. Please click here for additional details
Students may borrow books from the Library’s circulating collection for 21 days. Movies can be borrowed for 3 days. Laptops, headphones, and course reserve material can be borrowed for up to 3 hours and must be used within the Library (they cannot leave the building). These materials are available at the Front Desk. You may borrow up to 15 items at a time. Items may be renewed online by logging in to My Account in our Library catalog, or by contacting the Library Front Desk at 508.767.7135.
You must present your Assumption College ID, in order to borrow library material. Please do not lend your ID to anyone. You are responsible for all items borrowed on your card.
Your borrowing privileges are active for as long as you are a student at the College. You may renew your registration at any time after your privileges expires, by showing a valid College ID at the Front Desk.
Library users are welcome to check out laptops for up to 3 hours and must be used within the Library (they cannot leave the building). When you check out a laptop, you are responsible for the laptop itself ($1400), the laptop case ($60), the power cord ($60), and the lock and key ($31). If you must leave the laptop unattended, please be sure to LOCK it and take the key. Anything you save on the laptop will be deleted upon restart. Please save all documents and downloads to a flash drive and/or email them to yourself.
Borrowing from Area Libraries
Students may borrow directly from libraries in the Academic and Research Collabortive (ARC). Please obtain an ARC direct borrowing card at the d'Alzon Library Front Desk, in order to borrow directly from an ARC member library.
ILLiad (InterLibrary Loan)
Assumption College students, faculty, and staff may request materials that are not held by the d’Alzon Library through the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan system, which allows users to place, track, and renew requests online. When possible, articles are delivered directly to your ILLiad account. Items that are available locally will often arrive in just a few days, but it is best to allow 10 days to receive requested items. If you have questions about InterLibrary Loan, please contact Vivienne Anthony at 508.767.7291 or Robin Maddalena at 508.767.7271.
There are three group study rooms located on the 3rd floor of the Library. One study room is equipped with a TV and DVD player. These study rooms may be reserved for groups of two or more, for up to 4 hours. To reserve a room, please see our Group Study Rooms page.
Reservations are limited to 4 hours per student group per day and may be made up to 2 weeks in advance. Anyone may use a study room without a reservation, but group study reservations are encouraged and will be considered to be a priority for use of the room.
If you do not have an Assumption email address (which is required for online reservations) and you are affiliated with the College, please visit or call the Front Desk at 508.767.7135 to reserve a study room for your group.
Our research librarians are ready to help! Please see our Ask A Librarian page to get started.
We have an easy to use, touch-screen scanner on the 1st floor of the Library. This scanner, called KIC, lets you print, save, and email documents and images, in a variety of formats.
