Annual CE Faculty Meeting
The Annual Faculty Meeting for Continuing Education was held
on Thursday, August 23 in the Hagan Campus Center Hall. The
evening's festivities included greetings from Dr. Mary Beadle,
our new Provost, who just began her tenure the Monday prior,
and from our new President, Dr. Francesco Cesareo, who began
his tenure on July 1.
Brian Curran, Outstanding Faculty Award Recipient
Continuing & Career Education recognized the excellence
in teaching which sustains our program and makes it the great
value that it is, by presenting the Outstanding Faculty Award
to Mr. Brian Curran.
The criteria for consideration for this honor include teaching
at least 15 courses in CCE, getting generally excellent evaluations
from students, and supporting the CCE program. Brian Curran
has these requirements securely in hand.
Brian has taught management and marketing courses in CCE
since 1989, and when we began offering online courses, was
one of the first to say yes, participating in the training
needed to develop new pedagogies and strategies for teaching
in a virtual classroom environment. He earned his BS in Management
from Worcester State College, and his MBA from Nichols College.
His students agree with our assessment, with comments such
as:
Thorough, organized, structured, clear…a stern hand,
yet a gentle touch.
I would highly recommend this course to other students.
The instructor is excellent, the course well-planned, and
the examples from real life make it interesting.
He’s great…loved the course…learned so
much.

Like a good manager, Brian used a variety of techniques
to keep us all motivated and focused. Great job!
