Betsy R. Landry, MBA, SPHR, is the Human Resources
Supervisor at Mirick O’Connell. She is certified as
a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Society
for Human Resource Management Certification Institute. She
received her M.B.A. with a concentration in Human Resources
and her B.A. in Management from Assumption College. Ms. Landry
is Vice President of the Human Resources Management Association
of Central Massachusetts, and a member of the Society for
Human Resource Management.

benefits, compensation and benefits for international employees,
and evaluating the total rewards system and communicating

· Employee and Labor Relations
o Covers laws affecting employee and labor relations, employee
relations and organizational culture, employee involvement
strategies, measuring employee attitudes, policies, procedures,
and work rules, discipline and complaint resolution, labor
relations legislation and union organizing, unfair labor practices,
collective bargaining, and strikes and secondary boycotts.
· Risk Management
o Examines organizational risk, key legislation, safety, health,

Instructor Profile:
Fall, 2008:
David L. Crowley, SPHR, is
a senior human resources professional with over 20 years of
experience in HR in communications and technology industries.
He received his BA in Psychology from Duquesne University,
completed the EEO Studies Advanced Certificate Program at
Cornell University, and holds an MBA in Organizational Development
from Clark University. He also has several years of adjunct
teaching experience at Assumption College.
Spring, 2009:
Jay Scully, SPHR, is a graduate
of Holy Cross College and received his MBA from Anna Maria
College. He has over 25 years experience in Human Resources,
working in the high tech, health care, manufacturing and construction
fields. He is certified as a Senior Professional in HR and
has taught in the graduate and undergraduate Continuing Education
programs at Assumption and Clark as well as The SHRM Learning
System.
