Lecture title: Non Datur Libertas sine Veritate: Religious Freedom as a Right and Duty

In December of 2015, the Church marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Second Vatican Council's Declaration on Religious Liberty, Dignitatis Humanae.  Msgr. Swetland, President of Donnelly College, will speak on the serious challenges the Church faces in defending both religious freedom and religious truth.

How should biology relate to holiness? Is there anything, from a scientific point of view, that justifies the claim that human life is sacred? This talk will explore the interface between contemporary science, philosophy and Jewish thought, using Jewish ideas of human nature to guard the value of human personhood.
