The Ecumenical Institute is pleased to present the annual Bishop Flanagan Lecture on October 23 at 4 pm in La Maison Hall. This year’s lecture, delivered by Dr. N.K. Kumaresan Raja will be titled, “Why Do We Need Gandhi Today?”

Dr. Raja is Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at Pondicherry University, India.  Since becoming an academic, he has been working on land administration issues, focusing on landlessness and social exclusion, state sponsored compulsory land acquisition, and conclusive land titling.  “The Gandhian Way” is Dr. Raja’s inspiration for a “roadmap” for the empowerment for all the underprivileged. 

Some of his recent publications include, “Fostering Social Inclusiveness through Indian Land Administrative System,” International Journal of South Asian Studies and “They Know Their Problems – Understanding Participatory Learning and Action,” Pudu Books.
