The law enforcement Officers of the Assumption
College Campus Police Department receive their police authority
under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 22c Section 63.
Campus law enforcement Officers have the same authority as
State, and Municipal Police Officers. Before receiving police
authority campus Officers must attend a police basic course
as prescribed by the Colonel/Superintendent of the Massachusetts
State Police.
Campus Police Officers also receive continuous
in service training which is provided by the State Police,
the Worcester Police Department and many other state, local
and federal law enforcement agencies. The Assumption College
Campus Police Department strives to maintain a solid working
relationship with all state, local and federal law enforcement
agencies, along with all aspects of the judicial system.
The Campus Police Department is staffed
24 hours per day, 365 days per year by sworn Police Officers
and civilian personnel. Police Officers perform many different
duties some of which include campus patrols on foot and in
police vehicles. Responding to emergency and non emergency
calls for service. Investigating suspicious and criminal
activities and taking the appropriate police actions that
may be needed. The Police Department strictly enforces the
laws of the Commonwealth along with College rules and regulations.
