Assumption College Emergency Response Plan

PSYCHOLOGICAL CRISIS

ON-CAMPUS EMERGENCY Ext. #5555
OFF-CAMPUS EMERGENCY #911 (dial 9 first if using an on-campus      phone)
HEALTH SERVICES Ext. #7329

A psychological crisis exists when an individual is threatening harm to himself/herself or to others, or is out of touch with reality due to severe drug/alcohol reaction or a psychotic episode. A psychotic break may be manifested by hallucinations, uncontrollable behavior, or the person could be a Psychiatric Hospital walk-away.

If a psychological crisis occurs:

1. Never try to handle a situation you feel is dangerous on your own!

2. Notify Public Safety/Campus Police of the situation at emergency extension #5555. Clearly state that you need immediate assistance, give your name, your location, and describe the nature of the crisis.
