Assumption College Emergency Response Plan

MEDICAL EMERGENCY

Call the Department of Public Safety/Campus Police if you need assistance.

ON-CAMPUS EMERGENCY Ext. #5555
OFF-CAMPUS EMERGENCY #911 (dial 9 first if using an on-campus       phone)
HEALTH SERVICES Ext. #7329

1. If serious injury or illness occurs on campus, immediately dial Ext. 5555. Give your name;
describe the nature and severity of the medical problem and the on-campus location of the victim.

2. In case of minor injury or illness provide First Aid care. Use only sterile First Aid materials.

3. In case of serious injury or illness, Red Cross trained personnel should quickly perform the following steps: (GUARD AGAINST BLOOD BORN PATHOGENS)

· Keep the victim still and comfortable. Do Not Move the victim
· Ask victim, "Are you okay?" and "What is wrong?"
· Check the victim's breathing and give CPR if necessary
· Control serious bleeding by direct pressure on the wound
· Continue to assist the victim until help arrives
· Look for emergency medical ID, question witness (es) and give all information to the
paramedics

4. Every office should have a person trained in first aid and CPR. Training is available through the
local American Red Cross.

· Only Red Cross trained personnel should provide first aid treatment and CPR.

IMPORTANT: After an evacuation, report to your designated assembly area. Stay there to receive instruction. The Senior Building Emergency Coordinator may require an accurate head count or roll call depending on the circumstances of the evacuation.
