NEW CELL PHONE POLICY
The President’s Cabinet has approved an employee cell phone policy effective June 1, 2008. A monthly stipend will be paid through the payroll system to those employees that are in positions authorized for Assumption College cellular phone usage. Payment will be made as an addition to the employee’s payroll check. Assumption College will not pay for any cell phone equipment, accessories or related service plans billed to the College. Please read the attached cell phone reimbursement policy and cell phone stipend authorization form. Submit completed authorization forms to Deb Daly in Payroll.

CELL PHONE REIMBURSEMENT POLICY
The President’s Cabinet has approved an employee cell phone policy.
A monthly stipend will be issued to those employees that are in positions authorized for Assumption College cellular phone usage. Positions authorized for Assumption College cellular phone usage are determined by the following criteria:
- The nature of the employees work is critical to the operation of the college and immediate response is required.
- The employee is involved in frequent off hours/on-call activity.
- The employee is a key staff member needed in the event of an emergency.
- The employee is a critical decision maker.
- The employee’s assigned work requires substantial travel.
- The employee is frequently away from access to traditional land-based phone services.

The following guidelines must be followed:
Assumption College will not be responsible for procuring cellular phones for those individuals that are eligible for the monthly stipend.
Assumption College will not pay for any cell phone equipment or related service plans. The individual in the authorized Assumption College cellular phone usage position will be responsible for choosing and paying for cellular phone equipment.
Cellular phone service will not be purchased by or directly invoiced to Assumption College. All costs related to the purchase and usage of the cellular phone is the responsibility of the employee.
The monthly stipend is a taxable reimbursement.
An employee with a cell phone allowance must maintain an active cell phone contract for the life of the allowance.
Employees shall not use cellular telephones to conduct the business of Assumption College while operating a motor vehicle.
It is the supervisor’s responsibility to review cell phone needs in his or her department and to notify payroll of any change in status.
