Assumption
College Anti-Virus Software Policy
Assumption College participates in an anti-virus site license
agreement with Network Associates Inc. This agreement provides
for the installation and distribution of virus protection software
to all desktop and laptop computers used by Assumption College
faculty, staff, administration, and students, including their
personal computers at home. The initial agreement, which was
negotiated during the S pring of 2000, covers the use and distribution
of a package marketed as McAfee VirusScan for computers running
Windows and Virex for computers running Macintosh.
All college owned computers are required to have one of the
above-mentioned products installed and configured to update
the virus definitions from Assumption College's FTP server.
All computers running Windows that log on to the NT network
are automatically checked for McAfee VirusScan and the latest
virus definitions via logon script. Computers not logging on
to the NT network must have the software installed and configured
manually.
