Student Home Pages

Overview

Blackboard provides space for you to have a personal home page for each course in which you are enrolled. Depending on your instructor's plans this page might be used for course specific postings or for more personal information. In distance education settings this page might be used to provide information so you can get to know your classmates. Creating a Blackboard home page requires no special web development skills. You only need to be able to enter information in a web form.

Creating a Student Home Page

Creating a Blackboard home page is easy.

1. Click on the tools link on the navigation menu for your course. Blackboard will display a list of tools that you can use.

2. Click on the "Edit Your Homepage" link. Blackboard will display a form for you to complete to create your home page:

3. To add a picture, click on the "Browse..." button to locate an image file on your local machine.

4. When you've entered all the information you want to add, click the submit button at the bottom of the page. (You will need to scroll to the bottom of the page to find it).

Viewing Home Pages

Once you and your classmates have created home pages you will want to view them. To view Home Pages you must go to the Communication page and click on the roster link.

When you click on the roster link Blackboard displays a search page. You can search for specific classmates or, if you click on the search button without entering a name in the search window, Blackboard will display a full class list:

Click on the name of the classmate who's page you want to view to display their home page.
